Caring for your Pull Français

How to care for your Pull Français?

For our sweaters, we use a high-quality blend of yarns composed of extra-fine Merino wool and cashmere. These must be cared for with caution so they can retain their character. It is important to know that cashmere loves water and improves over time. Therefore, we recommend washing your sweater regularly, after every 3 wears on average. While it is possible to wash your sweater by hand, the gentler and more consistent movement of a machine (using a 0° wool program) is preferable. However, be careful to double-check that your wool program is set to 0°, as some machines default to 30° or 40°, which would cause your sweater to shrink immediately.

When new, your sweater will tend to shed some excess material in the form of very fine pilling or thin threads. Rest assured, this is a normal phenomenon that will disappear after a few washes. While, contrary to popular belief, it is not that difficult to maintain a high-quality sweater, it is still necessary to follow a few recommendations:

  1. Preferably use a gentle ‘special wool’ detergent and absolutely no fabric softener! Indeed, this could alter the softness of your sweater and, above all, cause it to felt.

  2. Machine wash your sweater using a wool program (cold), with a spin cycle not exceeding 600 rpm. You can place your sweater directly in the drum or in a laundry bag if you prefer. For two-tone and tri-color sweaters, we recommend using color catcher sheets; although the material has been tested many times and is not supposed to bleed, this helps guarantee the colors stay like new.

  3. To dry your sweater, lay it flat on a towel away from any heat source. Do not hang it on a hanger, as this could misshape it.

  4. If your sweater has dried in the right conditions, it will not need ironing. However, if you are part of the ‘sock-ironing gang’ and still wish to iron your sweater, never put the hot iron in direct contact with the material. You can use a clean cloth as an intermediary or, ideally, if you have a steam station, you can use it without any restrictions.

  5. You can use a lint roller to remove any remaining excess from your sweater after washing, especially for tri-color and two-tone products.

All that’s left is to wear your Pull Français without moderation!
